ArchivExplorer

ArchivExplorer is an add-on for the DocuWare Enterprise Content Management System (ECM) that allows you to mount your file cabinets in the Windows file system. The seamless integration of ArchivExplorer into Windows Explorer offers users a familiar working environment through which they have access to all their documents — safely stored in DocuWare. This will increase the acceptance and ensure training costs are minimized.

ArchivExplorer displays your file cabinets as an additional drive/volume in Windows Explorer and allows you to open or store files by Drag&Drop, just like any other drive. You can select multiple files at a time or store entire folder structures just by dropping them on the desired folder in ArchivExplorer. When searching for files or storing documents with an additional storage dialog you will recognise that you are actually working with a file cabinet.

Browse through your documents the way you are used to from Windows Explorer and Drag & Drop, double click, create shortcuts or delete documents in the file cabinet – as long as you have the corresponding rights in DocuWare assigned.

The columns of the ArchivExplorer drive / volume show you document specific information like the number of pages, the format, if there are annotations but also system values such as storage date or storage user.

Documents consisting of multiple TIF files can be automatically converted to PDF format when opening them to make it even easier to work with them, without changing the original files in the file cabinet. Documents that have multiple pages in different file formats are compressed to a ZIP file.

ArchivExplorer runs with all server editions of DocuWare Business / Professional / Enterprise.

Through the context menu you can send one or more files via e-mail through your standard email client application like Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail etc.

ArchivExplorer comes with a powerful search function that allows you to search in all the index fields of the selected file cabinet, even in the full text catalogue. It supports the search operators, wildcards and expressions as the DocuWare Clients. When selecting a result from the result list, ArchivExplorer takes you directly to the folder where the file is stored.

In addition to accessing your file cabinets directly through the Windows Explorer you can also access the ArchivExplorer drive from within your Windows application through the open or save dialogs. When saving a Word document, an Excel spreadsheet or any other file you can simply navigate to the DocuWare drive in the save dialog and save the file to the desired folder.

If you have assigned a storage dialog it immediately shows up and you can enter additional index information.
