tk accelis, previously known as thyssenkrupp Materials Services, is a major materials distribution and services provider, supporting customers with materials supply and processing, logistics and wider supply chain services.
Operating across more than 30 countries, the business supports around 250,000 customers, from SMEs to large international organisations, across industries including automotive, construction, aerospace and industrial manufacturing.
DocTech's relationship with tk accelis dates back to 2005. During that time, its use of DocuWare has grown considerably – from an on-premise document management system into a central platform supporting processes across Finance, HR, Quality and other areas of the business.
In late 2025, tk accelis made the decision to migrate its established on-premise DocuWare system to DocuWare Cloud, providing a platform for the continued development of its document management and automation processes.
Over time, different parts of the group had used other methods of managing documents, including SharePoint and alternative document systems.
tk accelis has since moved towards a more consistent approach, with DocuWare becoming its default document management system.
Today, DocuWare supports a wide range of processes across the business, from purchase ledger and credit control to HR, quality documentation, digital forms and approval workflows.
Integration with SAP ERP also connects DocuWare documents with wider business processes, helping reduce manual administration and making information easier to manage and retrieve.
After around 20 years of using DocuWare on-premise, moving such an established system to the cloud required careful planning.
DocTech managed the migration, carrying out much of the work outside normal business hours to minimise disruption. The move was completed smoothly, with DocTech taking care of the technical work involved throughout the migration.
Since moving to DocuWare Cloud, tk accelis has continued to expand its use of DocuWare and they now have dedicated internal resource tasked with identifying new opportunities for document control, workflow automation and process improvement.
More than 20 years after first implementing DocuWare, tk accelis continues to find new ways to use the platform.
From its original on-premise system to DocuWare Cloud, integrated workflows and the next generation of intelligent document processing, the solution has continued to evolve alongside the business.
With DocuWare now established as its default document management platform, tk accelis has a consistent foundation from which to continue improving processes and reducing manual effort across the organisation.

tk accelis and DocTech are now looking at another opportunity to reduce manual effort: material test certificates.
These complex documents contain significant amounts of unstructured technical information and currently require manual review to identify the information needed.
The planned use of DocuWare Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) will explore how documents can be automatically classified and relevant information extracted from unstructured content.
This represents the next stage of a long-term approach to DocuWare – continually identifying manual, document-heavy processes that can be made more efficient through digitalisation and automation.
DocuWare has continued to evolve with our business. Our move to the Cloud was handled smoothly by DocTech, and we’re now looking at new opportunities to automate and improve processes across the organisation.
