DocuWare version 7.15 is set to bring one of the biggest changes to the platform in recent years, with a redesigned user experience, greater use of AI and new ways for users to access the information held within their documents.
This latest release will accompany the rollout of the new DocuWare, initially for DocuWare Cloud customers from mid-October 2026.
Rather than simply adding new functionality to the existing platform, DocuWare has reimagined how users interact with their documents and the information stored within them.
Key developments include a new web client, DocuWare Aura AI Assistant, further integration of Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), and an improved experience across desktop and mobile devices.
One of the most noticeable changes will be the redesigned DocuWare client.
The new interface has been created to make accessing, processing and sharing documents quicker and more intuitive, with a consistent experience across desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone.
Importantly, organisations will not need to carry out a technical migration to start using the new experience. The classic and new DocuWare clients will initially operate alongside one another, using the same existing data and settings.
Individual users will also be able to switch between the two interfaces, helping organisations introduce the new experience gradually.
One of the biggest additions is DocuWare Aura, a new AI assistant built into DocuWare.
Rather than only searching for documents using traditional search criteria, users will be able to interact with the information contained within documents using natural language.

This has the potential to change how businesses use the information they already hold within DocuWare.
For example, a finance team could use Aura to check an unexpected invoice charge against the relevant supplier agreement, while management could use it to identify particular terms or conditions contained across customer contracts.
DocuWare is also bringing Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) more closely into the main DocuWare environment.
IDP uses technologies including AI and OCR to automatically understand and process incoming documents, including capabilities for handwriting recognition, document classification, data extraction, document splitting and master data matching.
With the new DocuWare, IDP can be configured directly within DocuWare Configuration, removing the need to move between separate platforms.
For organisations processing large volumes of invoices, orders, forms and other business documents, this creates further opportunities to reduce manual data entry and automate document-heavy processes.
Aura will also be accessible, creating opportunities to connect information held within DocuWare with other business applications and AI tools.
This could allow organisations to combine information from documents with data held in systems such as their ERP or CRM, while retaining DocuWare's existing security and permissions.
This is particularly interesting for DocTech customers where DocuWare is already integrated with other core business applications.
There is also an important change for DocuWare Cloud customers using Single Sign-On (SSO).
Version 7.15 introduces a new Identity Service which uses different URLs. Administrators therefore need to add an additional callback URL to their SSO configuration before their organisation is upgraded to 7.15. Individual users do not need to make any changes.
DocTech customers using SSO should ensure their configuration is reviewed ahead of their scheduled update.
The rollout of DocuWare version 7.15 and the new DocuWare experience will begin for DocuWare Cloud customers in mid-October 2026, with updates being introduced in stages through to the end of the year.

The new DocuWare is launching as a cloud-first solution, with an on-premises release planned for a later date.
Version 7.15 marks a significant development in how organisations can use DocuWare.
Document management has traditionally focused on securely capturing, storing, finding and processing documents. The addition of integrated AI brings another dimension: helping users more easily access and make use of the information contained within those documents.
